Vantage RE hosts Malaysian Prime Minister for renewable energy showcase
In January we were honoured to welcome Prime Minister YAB Datuk Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim to our event in London, which celebrated Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB’s) growth in renewable energy in the UK.
The showcase featured Eastfields and Bunkers Hill solar farms, marking a key milestone as the first projects built by TNB, through Vantage RE, in the UK. When fully operational, the two solar farms, with a combined capacity of 102 MW, will boost our total generation capacity to 908 MW.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Anwar praised the efforts and ingenuity of the Vantage team and highlighted that TNB’s ventures in the UK and Ireland will not only strengthen Malaysia's position in the international renewable energy sector but also bring long-term benefits through the transfer of advanced technologies and expertise.
TNB President/Chief Executive Officer Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan said in his speech that TNB is proud of its contributions to the renewable energy space as the company continues to make its presence felt not only in Malaysia and the UK but also in other global markets.
“We aim to leverage the expertise we have built over the past 75 years by embracing key technological advancements and prioritising talent development,” he said.
Vantage RE CEO, Vian Davys, said, “As we move into 2025, Vantage’s portfolio has grown significantly. In 2024 our projects generated 1 Terawatt hour, that’s enough clean electricity to power more than 312,000 homes, saving more than 440,000 tonnes of CO2 every year.
We’re proud of the part we are playing in helping to fulfil TNB’s ambition of becoming a global leader in renewable energy and look forward to continuing our progress.’
Our newest solar farms feature advanced technology, for example battery storage ready inverters at Bunkers Hill, and single axis trackers at Eastfields. These sites represent not only TNB’s engineering excellence but a commitment to sustainability too, targeting a biodiversity net gain of 50% at Bunkers Hill and 80% at Eastfields.
The event secured widespread positive coverage in the Malaysian media:
